There are no guarantees in life. You can hope and pray and work your hardest to get what you want and sometimes you just don’t get what you want. Does this make you a failure? Does this justify giving up on goal-chasing altogether?
I don’t know where I heard it first, but I like this rule: “You are either winning or learning.”
I’ve made so many mistakes in my life. I haven’t always treated my friends and family the way they deserved to be treated. I haven’t always been a great communicator in my career. And I certainly have not accomplished all of my bucket list athletic goals.
Yet in each one of these areas I have learned by leaps and bounds. And if I wasn’t out there taking risks, I would not have benefited from all those learning experiences.
Are you still at the starting line, wondering if the effort is worth it? Trust me, you won’t know until you run the race.
