So many people are spreading thanks around this time of year. I see digital shouting in facebook, broadcasting thankfulness to family and friends. I can also sense silent reflection on what we have… not what we don’t have. It creates a collective epidemic of joy that is having an infectious effect on me.
However, with unemployment still at 10-12% depending on where you live, I know there are a lot of people still hurting from the recession. If you are the one out of ten who is unemployed or making less money than you used to, I’d like to take a moment to talk directly to you.
I want to thank you for persevering. I want to thank you for not giving up. Thank you for living up to your responsibility to just keep going in spite of the odds. You have more impact on your family and the people in your life than you will ever know, so allow me to remind you of that. That’s something to give thanks for. That’s something to live for.
I also want to personally thank all of you for what you’ve done for me. If you hadn’t touched my life in some way, or befriended someone close to me, or helped me out in my job, you wouldn’t be reading this. You are the small but treasured audience for this blog.
Thank you for reading and expanding my stories with your comments. It means a lot to me.
ACTION: One of the most-read stories on my blog this year was “Just Keep Going”. It describes an important moment of enlightenment for me, and the amount of comments it received told me it hit home for many of you. So I have a favor to ask. Pass this link along to someone you know is hurting or may be having trouble counting their blessings this year.
Have a great Thanksgiving!
You’re welcome!
Thanks to you, too. For all those reasons.
Well said, as always, David.
THANK YOU David. You are forever encouraging… it’s a gift and I’m glad you are using it live and in social media to reach more peeps.
Happy Thanksgiving David! Cheers.
Thank you David!
Like so many of the things that you do, gratitude is the mark of a truly successful person, a person who gives meaning to life. You ask no one to model you, but anyone would be wise to model the many aspects of the powerful & empowering optimism that you live day to day.
Peace Dave,
Thank You… Just 2 words but the meaning and impact these to words have can be ENORMOUS. So often we forget to share with others, our feeling of “Thank You”. I know that I’m guilty of not always saying these 2 simple words. From the moment we open our eyes
the first words to be spoken should be “Thank You God for giving another day”, undeserved. And as our day progress we should shower the world with “Thank You’s”
for every one we interface with this day will give us something to be Thankful for. Be it positive or a negetive encounter you can always find something to be Thankful for. So on this day we have set aside “Thanksgiving” to share a meal with friends and family, I challenge you to start the Habit of remembering to give “Thanks” daily and often, and watch your life reflect Joy as you come to really appreciate the Life you have been granted. And at days end, just before you close your eye, Give Thanks to God…..
Your blogs have meant a lot of bright spots for me this year and good reflection. keep it coming. Also, for the Thanksgiving theme, I just saw the new movie, “Blindside”. So awesome. If that doesn’t make you want to stop and think of others first. Good cry for me also. Anyway, great flick to take in this season of thanks.
Love
your cuz S
David, thanks for your absolutely wonderful blog. This blog is a great example of exposing a side of someone whom I worked with for years but didn’t really know them – but this little digital book has “exposed you”… KEEP up the great, thoughtful, CREATIVE writing!
